9/21/2023 0 Comments Is dragon ball z kakarot worth itI caught this on a sale with the DLC included and am currently working on DLC2. Overall, I enjoyed the new music and renditions of the opening themes and original pieces like Kami's Lookout. The fighting is pretty simplistic and I felt like there wasn't too much need to grind levels between fights, but some gimmick fights gave me flashbacks to how cheesy the AI could be from Xenoverse. There are moments here and there between characters for certain sub stories but far few in between. I liked the charm and the presentation of the epic moments, but unfortunately the side quests with some characters are left to be uninspired fetch quests or fighting enemies. The world of Kakarot has so much love and homage to the Dragonball universe from the OG to Super locales/characters in the DLC. Most will probably tell you Kakarot's side-quests leave alot to be desired and they are mostly right. I am a fan of Cyberconnect2's work on the Naruto Storm series for their flashy animations within Anime faithful cel-shade graphics. Initially I did not peer too much Kakarot's way, but seen snippets from trailers and/or streamers and I thought, probably just another adventure into the DBZ sagas. Just be warned, you might have to put down the controller from time to time during it's long cutscenes and might have to force yourself through the one note and weak gameplay. Get this on a sale, at the very least and see if you get some enjoyment out of it. Not a lot of licensed anime games even accomplish this much and even ones made my CyberConnect2 to varying degrees. Experiencing the story of DBZ in game from has it's fair share of novelties among others the game has that not even the fighting games like Budokai and Tenkaichi were able to replicate. However with all that said, if you like the story of DBZ, are new to the new series, or haven't watched it in 10 or 20 years and you don't want to watch 291 episodes of the original series, 167 episodes of Kai or read the manga, then is not the worst way to experience the story. The game has a number of shortcoming like monotonous and one note combat, side quests that start to wear thin after doing the game's version of the Cell Saga, some odd controls here and there. 40h 35m PlayedFull review is on my blog since I had a lot to say on this game: Short version is: while I did get some enjoyment out of it and I did like how it was faithful to the story of the DBZ anime and manga 90% of the time and how you can explore Dragon Ball's fantasy version of earth.
